Hill Of The Arts

Hill Of The Arts is a villa located in the heart of Turín. An ancient city characterized by its medieval buildings and its irregular topography. The Alps, often covered in snow, dominate the citie’s scenario and gives it a unique landscape.

The villa, constructed in the mid-eighteen century as a retreat from city life, is now an abandoned yet remarkable set of buildings which have the potential of becoming once again a place of charm and gathering.

The project aims to solve the propsed program in a respectful way. This translates into reducing the visual impact to the minimum. Thereby the proposal establishes a tension between what it seems and what is revealed once one enters the living spaces.

There is a thrilling secuence of spaces that manage to dialogue between the eighteen`s century architecture and the new.

The propgram spaces fit between the villa in such a way that the connection between the buildings happen mostly at the ground floor thus transforming this vacant space into the heart of the project. A place of connection and gathering. Ther estaurant, the theatre, the art gallery and the ateliers will live through this space.

The project, through simple transformations in the interior volumes, will create a new architecture that can dialogue with the brick, the vaulted ceilings and the archs that characterize the original villa’s construction.
